Kenneth Schneider has spent a lifetime furthering synergies among people, institutions, and cultures, and so it is no wonder he has launched two international institutions to carry on this work on a global basis. Trained as an artist and academic, then also as an international attorney and business consultant, Schneider's life's work has been to bring talents, visions and ideas together across geopolitical, cultural and professional borders to create wholes that are greater than the sum of their parts.
More than a decade ago, Schneider brought this vision to life spectacularly with the creation of what has since then become a leading global philanthropy dedicated to discovering, developing and celebrating human creative excellence: The Apogee Foundation. While working as a lawyer for Wall Street' most distinguished law firms in Moscow and then as executive for the former Soviet Union's leading investment management group, Schneider saw in the collapse of the Eastern Bloc a historic opportunity to reinvent and revitalize the former Soviet Union's imploding arts and education systems into new world models that would bring together the best of what both East and West had to offer. Schneider thus conceived of and launched a new type of vehicle that could achieve results more profound than either approach would have allowed, alone. Schneider named this new institution "Apogee"(meaning "the highest point, the culmination"). A decade later, Kenneth Schneider's Apogee Foundation has established itself around the globe as the leading organization fostering human artistic excellence worldwide, and the title Apogee has become not only a description of the Foundation's aims for what creative artists can achieve, but also a description of the institution's own path and place in human history.
